DESCRIPTION: APW - Hampden, "The Train Service Special, Wisconsin Central Watch Club, Waukesha, Wis." marked mvt, 17J, 18S, gold-filled HC recase with attractive engraving detail including a locomotive scene to front, an idyllic lakeside home scene to rear, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, nickel damascene, Teske's patent regulator with gold index, gilt mvt screws, s#761181. An interesting and very rare railroad associated private label marking.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates, small patch of scratches to plate adjacent "S" marking near regulator index, some fine to micro-fine scratches elsewhere and some scattered mild very small surface spots; dial with edge chipping at 3, hl below seconds-register near 6, fading of some of the 5-minute numerals; excellent hands; case shows medium wear, cuvette with some perimeter scratches from slipped past openings, prominent ding to band and adjacent edge of front at 7:30, dent to lower rear with corresponding dent to cuvette, some scattered lesser dings and nicks elsewhere, front lift spring needing assistance to open lid and is allowing opened lid to fall back approximately one-third toward closed with gravity, cuvette with some play at hinge, rear hinge missing one end-cap, front hinge with one marred end-cap, pendant with brass replacement pendant sockets; tight bow, crown shows light wear; glass crystal with a very small edge chip at lower-right, some glue excess at its seat.
